John Fogerty Works with Foo Fighters, Miranda Lambert on New Album

Rock legend John Fogerty is prepping a new album on which he’ll perform some of his best-known Creedence Clearwater Revival songs with an array of special guests. According to Billboard, Wrote a Song for Everyone (due this fall) will include collaborations with Foo Fighters, My Morning Jacket, Bob Seger and country stars such as Miranda Lambert, Brad Paisley and Keith Urban.

No tracklist is available yet, although some of the album’s selections have been revealed: “Fortunate Son” will feature the Foos and “Who’ll Stop the Rain” will be a duet with Bob Seger.

Earlier this year, he spoke about his experience recording with Lambert, whom he called “a great voice and a great, soulful presence in music, and really a delightful person.”

New Blink-182 Album Already in the Works

Although Blink-182 have been on a break since their summer tour, and the release of their new record Neighborhoods, the band have designs on their next record. Bassist Mark Hoppus said that while guitarist Tom DeLonge has been touring with side project Angels and Airwaves, he’s been putting together new songs.

“I’m sure these will all be Blink songs at the moment,” Hoppus told Kerrang! “I don’t have any plans to write songs with anybody else right now. If I do, it’ll be a collaboration or a one-off thing, but everything I’m writing right now is for Blink-182.”

Hoppus said that the songs are in the early stages and likely will change plenty when the entire band begins working on them.

“It’s really too early to tell. At the moment all I’ve got is a bunch of chord progressions and ideas,” he said. “It’s more me playing my guitar and coming up with little ideas and melodies. By the time it goes to Tom and Travis [Barker] and we work on it as a band, who knows what it will sound like.”

The band have a European tour planned this summer.

Mötley Crüe Movie in the Works?

While Motley Crue singer Vince Neil is chatting with the media about possibly leaving the celebrated ’80s rockers, bass player Nikki Sixx is going the opposite direction and saying the band are just getting started!

“This is the beginning of what will be the biggest probably four to five years of the band’s career,” he told Rolling Stone. “We’re negotiating with a couple of other extremely huge bands on doing a co-headline tour, something that’s never happened before. There’s new music in the future.”

Sixx says that’s not all. A full-fledged Motley Crue movie is in the works. “The other thing to look at is the wheels are in motion for getting the Motley Crue movie made now,” he said. “We finally got everything in order the way it needs to be done, and that’s gonna happen.”

The movie, Sixx explained, would be shaped around the band’s memoir, The Dirt. “We have sort of an agreement with a production company, directors, etc., to right now just keep it amongst ourselves,” Sixx said. “So once we have everything really together, we’re gonna let everybody know. But trust me, when I say the wheels are in motion they’re definitely in motion.”

Even with all the starry-eyed plans for a movie and upcoming Las Vegas residency, Sixx said that at some point, the guys will hang up their heavy metal hats: “The band sat down and had a powwow as brothers and friends and guys who’ve been doing this for over 30 years, and we said, ‘When is it time?’ We’ve always said since we were kids, we didn’t want to hobble into the sunset. So after the movie, at some point – whether it’s within a year or a few years – we’re probably gonna have that conversation about maybe it’s time, maybe it’s time to go out on top.”

In other Crue news, Neil is one of the artists slated to contribute to an upcoming Ozzy Osbourne tribute album.

Radiohead: No <em>King of Limbs</em> Sequel in the Works

Although there have been plenty of rumors of a quick follow-up to Radiohead’s recently released King of Limbs, the band say that there’s no truth to the reports. The rumors were spurred on by Radiohead’s Record Store Day releases – “Supercollider” and “The Butcher” – due on Saturday, April 16.

“‘The Butcher’ is from The King of Limbs sessions,” guitarist Ed O’Brien told NME.com. “‘Supercollider’ was recorded during that period and finished off after the album came out.”

He said that the single releases aren’t part of a bigger piece.

“There are songs that we have started, that we never finished, but there’s not like seven or eight finished songs waiting in the wings to be released now, or in the autumn,” O’Brien said.

When The King of Limbs was released online, some fans expected a “Part 2” because it only included eight tracks.

“It’s just the way the album is sequenced best,” O’Brien responded, and added, “40, 41 minutes is the optimum time we feel for a record.”
