New Blink-182 Album Already in the Works

Although Blink-182 have been on a break since their summer tour, and the release of their new record Neighborhoods, the band have designs on their next record. Bassist Mark Hoppus said that while guitarist Tom DeLonge has been touring with side project Angels and Airwaves, he’s been putting together new songs.

“I’m sure these will all be Blink songs at the moment,” Hoppus told Kerrang! “I don’t have any plans to write songs with anybody else right now. If I do, it’ll be a collaboration or a one-off thing, but everything I’m writing right now is for Blink-182.”

Hoppus said that the songs are in the early stages and likely will change plenty when the entire band begins working on them.

“It’s really too early to tell. At the moment all I’ve got is a bunch of chord progressions and ideas,” he said. “It’s more me playing my guitar and coming up with little ideas and melodies. By the time it goes to Tom and Travis [Barker] and we work on it as a band, who knows what it will sound like.”

The band have a European tour planned this summer.

Blink-182 Talk New Album, Summer Tour

After more than a year of working on new material, Blink-182 will finally be ready to premiere some new songs when they hit the road this August. The punk-pop hitmakers recently announced a tour with My Chemical Romance; the trek begins August 5 in Holmdel, New Jersey.

“That’s what we’re most excited about,” drummer Travis Barker told Rolling Stone. “It’s the first time there will be new music in nine years.”

In between now and the tour’s launch, Blink will be hard at work on the new album.

“We have until July 31st to hand the record in, and I think we’ll use every single day until then, as always,” singer and bassist Mark Hoppus said.

Singer-guitarist Tom DeLonge added: “We thought we were closing in on the end, and literally a week ago we pumped out a whole set of stuff that I think will be some of the best on the album. Recording is never really finished. You slide or limp into home base.”

Blink-182 Postpone Tour to Work on New Album

Reunited punk-pop band Blink-182 have scrapped their entire U.K. and Ireland tour, according to an announcement on their website. Mark Hoppus, Tom DeLonge and Travis Barker have chosen to continue recording their new album instead, according to NME.com.

“It is with heavy hearts that we have to announce our planned 2011 European summer tour has been rescheduled,” the band said in a statement. “When we booked the tour last year, we were confident that we would have the new album out before the summer. Turns out we were mistaken as the album is taking longer than we thought and won’t be out till later this year.”

The trio have chosen to postpone the tour until next summer, when they’ll be able to play their new tunes.

“We hoped we would have some new songs to play rather than do another ‘greatest hits tour’ which you all saw last summer. The three of us are working very hard to do what we set out to do when we re-formed, get a new Blink-182 album recorded.”

The band were set to play the T in the Park and Oxegen festivals this summer. There’s no word yet on if the Blink boys will be back for those events in 2012.
