Get ready to get twice your bang for your buck, as Motley Crue singer Vince Neil has dropped the news that the Crue will be co-headlining a colossal U.S. tour with KISS that’s set to run from July to September, according to the Las Vegas Sun. Look for the official tour announcement to drop next week.
“It’s going to be really cool because KISS is bringing their full stage show, and Motley will be bringing our full stage show, so you are going to see two huge headliners at the same time,” Vince said. “It’s going to be one of the biggest tours of the summer, if not the biggest.”
Motley Crue are also set to rock a solo June tour in Moscow. Vince is stoked for it. He says the guys have hundreds of thousands of loyal fans in Russia. “I’m really looking forward to being there. It’s going to be a great summer!”
The Crue just wrapped a two-and-a-half week residency at the Hard Rock Hotel’s Joint in Las Vegas last month, and guitarist Mick Mars exclusively told Gibson.com that he feels the Crue are “breaking the ice” when it comes to rock bands having their own residencies.
“I’m an old-school type of person. When it comes to residencies, I think Motley Crue is kind of breaking the ice in that area, because when I think of residencies, I think of the older names and non-rock acts,” he said. “So, I feel like it’s what we did with the Roxy in Los Angeles with the rock scene. We were the first unsigned band to play there, which opened up a whole new area for bands that were unsigned to play. So, we could be doing the same thing here. I don’t know – I don’t have a crystal ball [laughs]. But, I’m guessing stuff like that will happen.”
What’s his advice for upcoming musicians? “Don’t get in the business,” he laughed, speaking with NewsTimes.com. “It’s tough. There [are] so many different outlets for music now. Thirty years ago you had MTV; everybody watched MTV and everybody saw your video. There was one place to go; now there [are] thousands of places to go. It’s a lot tougher. There [are] more eyes out there; it's just harder to get everybody to look at you at the same time.”
While Motley Crue singer Vince Neil is chatting with the media about possibly leaving the celebrated ’80s rockers, bass player Nikki Sixx is going the opposite direction and saying the band are just getting started!
Motley Crue founder Nikki Sixx says the band is starting to think about calling it a day, but not for a few years.
Drummer Tommy Lee added that the Crue had imagined doing a show like this for many years. “We’ve gone through a lot of the big Vegas production shows and we all have talked about it many times going, ‘God, could you imagine if we could only get our hands on this kind of an opportunity what we could do with it.’”
Motley Crue are celebrating their 30th anniversary this summer with a North American tour alongside Poison and New York Dolls, and one thing is evident when it comes to this combination: Boring, it is not. After all, these guys are long known for their larger-than-life, amped-up live shows. It’s wild and free hair metal with a bad-boy, rabble-rousing reputation. 
McManus Entertainment has just announced that Motley Crue will be heading to Australia in September. MelodicRock.com is reporting that Motley Crue, with all four original members – Vince Neil, Nikki Sixx, Mick Mars and Tommy Lee – will take Poison frontman Bret Michaels along on their Australian ride, as well as Australian rock legend Doc Neeson.
There was a lot of controversy between Motley Crue and Poison, just some comments they had made about how ‘We're not gonna do that kind of tour,’” said Michaels. “I had said something on stage, like ‘Wouldn’t it be awesome if for Poison’s 25th Anniversary and Motley Crue’s 30th, for there to be a tour we did together?’ And a couple of the members of their band made some pretty derogatory comments. I just said, ‘The hell with it. I’m gonna do my own tour.’ Then, Nikki [Sixx] said, ‘I’m really sorry about some of the comments some of the members made. I really want to do this.’ So I think it’s gonna be a great tour.”
