Jane’s Addiction Gives Away New Song

Making the best of an aggravating situation, Jane’s Addiction are offering a free download of a track from their fourth album The Great Escape Artist, which is due in August. An unfinished version of the song, “End to the Lies,” was leaked last month, and the band has responded by offering up the finished version on their official website for free. Well, mostly for free. One must subscribe to the band’s e-mail list in exchange for the song.

Of the track, Jane’s Addiction guitarist Dave Navarro told Spinner.com, “To me, it sounds like an updated Jane’s Addiction as it has the hypnotic repetitive nature of some of our early work combined with a modern approach. This track was released as a taste of the record for our die-hard fans. I can’t wait for everyone to hear our first single next month and then the album later in the summer.”

The band’s first album in eight years, The Great Escape Artist includes songwriting and bass-playing from TV on the Radio’s Dave Sitek.

In a press release, frontman Perry Farrell said that the during the recording process the band was “fully immersed in the process of making modern music. It has been a great experience thus far, and the results have so much potential.”
