Pearl Jam Guitarist Promotes Crohn’s Disease Awareness

Pearl Jam guitarist Mike McCready has spoken out to raise public awareness of Crohn’s Disease, an incurable disease affecting the gastrointestinal tract.

McCready, who is among 1.4 million Americans suffering from the disease, recently donated his time to create a public service announcement to promote the Take Steps Walk program.

The guitarist said in the announcement, “I have been living with Crohn’s Disease for over 24 years. Luckily, my disease is now under control. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for many of the 1 million-plus Americans suffering from IBD. I know firsthand the tremendous impact CCFA’s programs can have on improving Crohn’s and colitis patients’ lives. I encourage anyone inflicted or affected by these diseases to sign up for the Take Steps Walk program.”

This year marks the 20th anniversary of Pearl Jam’s debut album, Ten, which was recently given the deluxe reissue treatment. Epic Records and Legacy Recordings have also released expanded and remastered editions of Pearl Jam’s second and third albums, Vs. and Vitalogy.
