Trent Reznor Plans New NIN Music in 2012

Trent Reznor has recently been immersed in movie soundtracks. His music for David Fincher’s The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo movie is three hours long – longer than the film itself.

But Reznor has told BBC Radio One that he would be writing with Nine Inch Nails “in mind” next year. “I’ll spend a good portion of 2012 writing for Nine Inch Nails,” he says. “Let’s see what happens.”

Of his NIN hiatus, also interrupted by his other band How to Destroy Angels, Reznor reflects: “I need[ed] to commit to doing something different, and that doesn’t mean I’m not going to return to Nine Inch Nails at some point.

“But I find myself pushed and pulled back into the same routine of album, tour, album, tour, album, tour, while a list of things I’d like to try and do in life sits untouched on the table.”

In 2009, Reznor said that Nine Inch Nails would be winding down and no longer play live. After a break, it looks like he may be rethinking.

On The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, Reznor and Karen O cover Led Zeppelin’s “Immigrant Song.” It is free to download now via iTunes. The soundtrack for The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo is out December 9.
