Liam Gallagher’s Beady Eye Will Play Oasis Songs

Talking to British radio station Xfm, ex-Oasis singer Liam Gallagher has said that his new band, Beady Eye, will be playing Oasis songs live this summer.

Gallagher said: “We’re doing Fuji Festival in Japan, which is in July. And we will be dropping Oasis songs for anyone who’s bothered.

“We were always going to do it, but we thought the album needed to stand on its own. We’ve done some good gigs, we’ve done some s--t gigs. And it’s time to drop them in now. Everyone else is. I feel they’re just as much my songs as they are Noel’s. And if people don’t like it, go to the bar or f--k off. If they do like it, jump up and down, let’s have a good time.”

The Gibson Video Interview: Beady Eye’s Andy Bell

Andy Bell has been at the epicenter of British rock music since the late 1980s, when his band Ride were at the forefront of the shoegaze scene. From there, he did time with Britpoppers Hurricane #1 and Gay Dad before landing on the mothership of British rock with Oasis. With Noel Gallagher and company, Bell set down the guitar for the first time and quickly learned the bass. In the aftermath of Oasis’ 2009 breakup, Bell remained with bandmates Liam Gallagher, Gem Archer and Chris Sharrock to form a new group, Beady Eye. The band released their first album, Different Gear, Still Speeding, in February to positive reviews, only bolstered by the group’s subsequent live performances.

Bell sat down at the Gibson NYC Showroom to talk about Beady Eye, his beloved Trini Lopez and the amazing run of drummers in his career.

Liam Gallagher: Beady Eye’s Second Album is ‘Coming Soon’

Liam Gallagher has said that his new band Beady Eye plan to start on their next album sooner rather than later. In an interview with the Irish Times, Gallagher promises that Beady Eye will not “put the ball down, sit around in a big house and go ‘we’re great. We won’t be booking into the studio for months and months on end. We’re not going to be rolling over this album into the next year. There will be an awesome second album coming soon.”

Self-confidence has never been in sort supply with Gallagher and he’s convinced that Beady Eye have what it takes. “I want us to be as big as The Beatles, as big as The Stones,” he said. “I want our music to stand the test of time. I could go on before The Beatles, I could go on after The Beatles – all of us in this band could. It’s that great.”
