Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Confirms GN’R Induction Lineup

Following the announcement that Guns N’ Roses would be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame next year, there’s been plenty of speculation regarding which members of the band will be included. Now Rock Hall CEO Joel Peresman has confirmed who’s in.

“Who will be invited, obviously, is the original five [that made Appetite for Destruction] and [keyboardist] Dizzy [Reed] and [drummer] Matt [Sorum],” Peresman said during an interview on Eddie Trunk Live (via hennemusic).

So, that means Axl Rose, Slash, Izzy Stradlin, Duff McKagan, Steven Adler, plus Reed and Sorum (who joined in 1990) will become members of The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. However, it has yet to be made clear who, exactly, will perform at the April 14 ceremony in Cleveland, Ohio.

Although Peresman suggested, “Everyone said they’re coming,” guitar god Slash said that wasn’t true in his case. He tweeted: “For the record, I didn’t RSVP, or in any way commit to attending the RRHF.”

Rush Have ‘Wrapped’ New Album Recording

Rush’s sound engineer Rich Chycki has suggested on Twitter that the legendary Canadian trio has “wrapped up” the recording of forthcoming album Clockwork Angels.

Chycki’s Tweet said: “2 months at Revolution Studio in Toronto. Thanks for the hospitality guys! #wrapped”

Clockwork Angels has been a long project for Rush. In August 2010, guitarist Alex Lifeson remarked that an additional three songs were almost complete and that the album was turning out to be very musically diverse. In particular, Lifeson refers to the nearly finished title track “Clockwork Angels” as an “epic song” and a “multi-parted piece.”

Geddy Lee told Billboard in December 2011 the trio were “making sure the guitar, bass and drum sounds are big and loud and clear, and any time we are going to add an overdub, to make sure that it definitely is adding and not subtracting.”

Rush lyricist/drummer Neil Peart said in May 2011, “I intend it to be my highest achievement lyrically and drumming wise.”

Rush have premiered two songs online already to buy, “Caravan” and “BU2B.”

Korn’s Munky Drops the 7-Strings for Side Project

Korn’s new dubstep collaboration album The Path of Totality recently debuted in the Top 10 of the Billboard 200, but for those who can’t get enough of guitarist James “Munky” Shaffer, the debut album by his side project Fear and the Nervous System is out now.

Shaffer went to great pains to distinguish Fear and the Nervous System from Korn, telling I Heart Guitar, “I think people are expecting a lot of Korn-sort of sounding riffs, and I purposefully used a lot of six-string guitars – all six string guitars actually – on the record, and alternate tunings and different things to make sure I wasn’t sounding like that.”

Shaffer used many un-Korn-like instruments on the record, including a baritone guitar, a Gibson Thunderbird, and a Gibson Les Paul BFG. “It’s really cool,” Shaffer said. “It’s got a humbucker in the bridge position and then a P90 in the neck position. I used that on a lot of the tracks.”

Although Shaffer would like to take the outfit out on the road, that won’t happen until the various members can coordinate their schedules. The lineup includes drummer Brooks Wackerman, Repeater vocalist Steve Krolikowski and Faith No More bass player Billy Gould. “We’ll see what happens,” Shaffer said. “We’ll just let people kinda discover it on their own. Really, the hardest thing about touring is scheduling, because everybody who played on the record has other band obligations.”

U2, Bon Jovi Had Top Tours of 2011

Because it was already revealed as the highest-grossing tour of all time, it’s no shock that U2’s 360° Tour was 2011’s top trek. Spin reports that Bono and the boys landed at #1 – topping runners-up Bon Jovi by more than $100 million.

U2 played to approximately 2.8 million people in the U.S. and Africa during the year, raking in $293 million. In comparison, Bon Jovi performed before 1.8 million folks and took home $192 million. Other acts in the Top 5 include Take That’s reunion tour, Roger Waters’ Wall tour and Taylor Swift’s trek.

How Sir Paul McCartney United Liverpool

Sir Paul McCartney may be a longstanding Everton soccer fan (Liverpool has two premier league soccer teams – Liverpool FC and Everton FC) and he made sure to invite players from both to his Liverpool concert on December 20.

The Daily Express says McCartney is close to Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish, saying before the show, “I’ve become friends with Kenny Dalglish – he came to one of the first Wings gigs and really supported us. One time he brought the whole Liverpool team with him to a gig.

“I’ve got a ticket for him if he wants it. In fact the whole Liverpool team can come if they want to – and the Everton team, too.”

Clearly Macca is enjoying being back on the road and playing Liverpool: “I’d play in my old back garden if it meant I got to play my home town. Actually, that’s the surprise – next year I’ll be playing a show in my old back garden!”
